THE IPHONE

THE IPHONE [1]
The term " iphone" is a registered trade mark of Apple inc. It refers to a line of internet and multimedia enabled Smart mobile cell phones designed and marketed by Apple inc.The iphone has the following features:
(1) E-mail.
(2)Browsing facilities with Safari as browser.
(3) Virtual keyboard.
(4) Provision for a physical keyboard.
(5) Multitouch screen.
(6) Wi-fi conectivity.
(8) Camera ( with automatic focus in the third generation of iphone)
(7) Text messaging
(8) Voicemail.
(9) Potable media player (equivalent to a video ipod.)
The first generation of the iphone was released in the U.S.ON JUNE 29, 2007. A Quad-band GSM with edge, this iphone was retroactively labelled as the original iphone. The second generation 3G was relaesed on july 11,2008.The improvement over the first generation (original iphone) was the addition of UMTS with 3.6mbps HSDPA for faster data handling. The third generation iphone 3GS was released on june 19,2009.The third generation iphone again improved on data speed with an added support for7.2mbps HSDPA loading.Uploading however stood at 384kbps. The iphone run on the iphone operating system.

A COMPARISON OF THE ORIGINAL, 3G,AND THE 3GS MODELS.

While the major improvement on 3G iphone over the original iphone was the addition of UMTS with 3.6mbps HSDPA for faster data handling,there were a lot of improvements on the third generation 3GS over the second generation 3G iphone. These improvements include:
(1) Support for 7.2mbps HSDPA downloading.
(2)Increased storage capacity of 16and 32GB as against 8 and 16GB in the second generation 3G iphones.
(3)Increased memory to 256mb eDRAM as against 128mb eDRAM in 3G iphones.
(4) Addition of digital compass to the3GS iphones.The original iphone and the 3G iphones do not have this.
(5) Improved picture quality in the 3GS iphone.
